Championship top scorer Graham struck after three minutes as Town started sloppily then added the second after the break with the Blues unable to find similar quality in and around the penalty area, Cowie adding the third in the closing moments.

Titus Bramble makes the 20, but may have to be content with the bench. Also present is Tommy Miller who made a five minute debut in Moscow.

The time Town fans have spent in Moscow would by no means have been counted as a wasted journey had the result not gone our way last night, but the superb victory in the auspicious surroundings of the Luzhniki was the icing on the cake.

The eventual scoreline of 4-0 was a touch flattering to Manchester United, although Town can have little argument with the result. The match was much like last season’s game at Old Trafford with United dominant in the first half, but with a second period more even, although Town rarely threatened.

Town keeper Matteo Sereni has finally been stripped of his red card recieved after Robbie Savage cheated at Leicester. Reports earlier in the week suggested this was the case and now referee Barry Knight has confirmed it.
